Registration too a huge success, many new players registering with the club, a special thanks to many of you distributing recruitment pamphlets, your support very much appreciated. Many thanks to those who worked tirelessly Saturday 26th February 2011, both on the bbq and regisrtation, in particular a big thankyou to both Paul and Barbara Vielhauer. A great start for what promises to be a fantastic season
Auskick and U/8's Gazzette Story The Hawkesbury Australian Football Club have had a great start to the year, record numbers for Auskick and U/8's, hosting Auskick Gala Day for the region on the 4th June 2011, attending training evenings Thursdays, practise matches completed at Quakers Hill, Swans half time match against Emu Plains and the club offering free registration for new comers. AFL/NSW are currently involved in school programs in the region, what a great start to the year for the Hawkesbury Football Club
The Hawkesbury Australian Football Club in-conjunction with both Hawkesbury Race Club and Richmond Club have raised over $32,000.00 dollars on Monday 13th June 2011. The final figure still not available but the day hailed an enormous success. Special thanks to both Craig & Nick Davis from the Sydney Swans along with Dale Holmes CEO GWS Giants.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who volunteered and the many local buisnesses who aided on the day.
Financial support in 2011 can only be described as unbelievable, our fundraising events which have included Hawkesbury Race Day and Sponsorship from local buisness contributing towards a huge financial injection. So strong was our support far to many to companies to name individually however several groups can not be ignored:
Hawkesbury Sports Council – their support successfully applying for a $10,000.00 grant recently and contributing $17,000.00 will see irrigation installed on field three, I would like to thank & acknowledge Hawkesbury Sports Council, in particular Anne Neal for her support. Hawkesbury Council – their support applying for grants, raising funds & approval through DA for club house facilities which will now see the commencement of amenities at Bensons Lane.
RichmondClub – what started with $1,000.00 in junior club sponsorship escalating to one of the most generous sponsorship deals offered to a local sporting group. Richmond Club’s offer to host a Hawkesbury Race Day Carnival on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, enormous, a venture overwhelming but thanks to the efforts of many we were able to raise over $32,000.00 in one day, an massive financial injection which will now allow the commencement of amenities at Bensons lane Sporting Complex.
Hawkesbury Race Club – not only supporting our Race Day Carnival sponsoring the event too in many ways, a generous offer of free entry to all participating AFL Clubs, players and members, sponsoring a jumping castle and staff member, use of facilities, advertising, the Hawkesbury Australian Football Club acknowledges and thanks Hawkesbury Race Club for their generosity & support.
AFL/NSW & GWS – their support through-out the year ongoing, Auskick programs and Gala Days conducted, Level 0 coaching courses, the donation & use of equipment including inflatable Auskick Zones for Hawkesbury Race Day, promoting our clubs both at local school clinics, gala days and Saturday games, special mention to both Micheal McGrady and Kirsty Moon for their support.
Local Business – support from local business overwhelming, far to many local companies and business groups to mention, this support by way of donation’s of goods for raffle’s, auction items, vouchers & gifts raising and enormous amount of money at both the Hawkesbury Race Day & Trivia/Auction Night. I would now encourage that the Hawkesbury Football Club support local business as they have supported us. A full list of club sponsors and businesses available on the Hawkesbury AFL Web sight.
A special mention to a long time supporter of the Hawkesbury Football Club Craig Davis our special guest and host for this year’s presentation. On several occasions I have called upon Craig’s support more so this season Craig providing guest speakers at several of our fundraising events and making himself available on each & every occasion, a passionate and true supporter of junior AFL. Please join me in thanking Craig once again for his support.

Dale Holmes wrote: Guys, Thank you very much for having me along, I really appreciated the opportunity and congratulations on raising the $32k. Between some losing bets, raffle tickets, auction items etc. the day cost me about the same!Anything our club can do to help you guys grow your clubs and hence the code please let us know. We would love to have your players and their families become part of the GIANTS family as we seek to launch into season 2012. Thanks again and all the best for the rest of the season.

Mike O Grady to AFL crew: Hi Crew, After you left today I briefly doubled back to get some feedback on how the Hawkesbury Saints viewed the day overall and the below remarks were made in regards to our presence. "Your guys are wonderful. Great job by all the AFL staff, especially in weather like today's" - Darren Barlow, PresidentHawkesbury Saints "All reports from the dad's inside the function room (who had children outside with us) were great. I heard some even had a kick themselves" - Steve Edwards, Vice-President Hawkesbury Saints "I was very impressed with how the AFL assisted the day run smoothly" - Penny "Who's that? (referring to Jim Perrett) I've given him my business card. We want him to help outside of the club at my work." - Penny in reference to Jim's 2 hour successful dedication to collecting donations. The club were so impressed with your efforts they have reserved a table (free of charge) for the AFL staff from today at their club's trivia night later this year to say thank you. Overall the Saints managed to raise $32,000.00 to go towards their new clubhouse and given the weather conditions today that's been viewed as a very successful fundraiser. Not only will the money raised be very useful for the club but the activities we put on today; the fan zone, exhibition Auskick game & the dad's kicking competition will go along way to getting some well earned publicity for the Saints and the Giants alike. I'm hoping that the local Hawkesbury newspapers will run the story & fingers crossed some of the photo's taken in front of the Fan zone make it to print. Once again crew thank you for giving up your Queen's Birthday public holiday both I and the club thoroughly appreciate your efforts today and I hope you enjoyed your day at the races despite the weather conditions. Great job!
Sincerely,
Mike O'Grady

Simply put I cannot attend everything and I had visitors from Broken Hill that only left this morning.Well done, I am informing the board tonight of the work you guys did, it is very refreshing to see a group pull together and for Richmond Club not to have to do all the work, which sometimes happens.

$10,000 Grant and Irrigation THE Hawkesbury Australian Football Club’s push for a new clubhouse and home on Bensons 3 is a couple of steps closer to reality after two fillips of news in the past two weeks. The club received a major boost a fortnight ago when the blueprints for the construction of the new clubhouse was approved by the Hawkesbury City Council, which gave the green light for construction to begin as soon as possible. And last week, the club received an extra piece of good news, with confirmation that it has won a $10,000 grant through the AFL Community Facility Grants and Joss Group to install an in-ground sprinkler system on Bensons 3. Hawkesbury AFC hopes to have sufficient funds raised to be able to lay the foundations for the clubhouse shortly following the end of the season with an optimistic goal of having it operational in time for the 2012 season. Construction is planned for the wing of the newly configured Bensons 3, on what is currently known as Bensons 4. It was with the support of the Hawkesbury Sports Council that the ground was reconfigured to north-south from its previous incarnation of east-west ensures the new building is better positioned. Hawkesbury Sports Council is pleased to be able to support the development of AFL in the Hawkesbury District and will be proactive in the following ways,” Hawkesbury Sports Council president David Bertenshaw said. “Following the successful lodgement of a grant application with NSW/ACT AFL and The Joss Group for the irrigation of Bensons 3/4, Hawkesbury Sports Council will be providing the additional funds required to complete the irrigation works. “The irrigation of these fields will greatly increase the turf coverage on these fields and will benefit not only AFL but the cricket games held on Bensons 4. “In addition, Hawkesbury Sports Council is pleased to announce that a grant application has been lodged with the NSW Department of Sport and Recreation to assist with the provision of an amenities building for use by Hawkesbury AFL Club. Again, Hawkesbury Sports Council will be contributing both financially and administratively to these works.“Hawkesbury AFL Club are to be congratulated on the pro active measures that are being taken for the successful completion of both of these projects.”The $10,000 grant, which was secured with assistance from the AFL NSW/ACT’s Facilities and Projects Manager Joe La Posta and the Hawkesbury Sports Council, will see Bensons 3 receive an in-ground sprinkler system worth more than $27,000 installed within the next two months. Nor-West Jets’ president Glenn Whitney said the two announcements were excellent news for the future of the club.“The confirmation of the building plans approval for the new clubhouse, along with the $10,000 grant goes a long way to ensuring a permanent future home for the club,” he said.“The support in particular of the Hawkesbury Sports Council, AFL NSW/ACT and Hawkesbury City Council has been invaluable.”In other good news, the club has announced that Sydney Swans’ premiership hero Nick Davis, The Age Chief Football Writer Caroline Wilson and GWS Giants CEO Dale Holmes will be the guest speakers at the Richmond Club- Hawkesbury AFC Corporate Raceday at the Hawkesbury Race Club on Monday, June 13.Davis memorably kicked four last quarter goals to lift the Swans over Geelong in the 2005 first semi final on their way to their drought-breaking premiership that year, Wilson also appears on Channel 9 program Footy Classified, and Holmes is the former CEO of AFL NSW-ACT.They will join Davis’ father Craig, who played for Carlton, North Melbourne, Collingwood and Sydney, as special guests on the day. There are only 12 tickets remaining for the corporate event on the day, so if you haven’t secured yours yet, there is a real danger of missing out.Visit the website that is located atwww.nwjets.sydneyafl.com.au for more details.
