Penrith Valley Association (PVA) formed as a breakaway from the powerful Northside competition. Peter Shaw (Penrith) becomes inaugural President.
It is the first year of Penrith Swans (ex Rams) and as such, a new playing strip. Formation of new local competing clubs: Emu Plains Lions, Blue Mountains Kangaroos & St Clair Crows. Hawkesbury Saints (Est. 1981) also become part of the PVA.
PVA includes competition for Under 10 & Under 12, Under 13, 14 & 16 remain in the Northside competition.
A successful recruitment day is conducted at Penrith Plaza, thanks mainly to the arrival of the 2009 AFL Premiership Cup proudly presented to the large crowd by Kangaroos superstar, Wayne Carey.
